Reading Programs

We offer virtual reading challenges for all ages. Our two biggest programs are our 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten and our Summer Reading programs. Our reading programs are hosted through Beanstack, a free app that allows readers to log their books from anywhere!

  • 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten runs year-round and is for children ages birth to about five years old. This program encourages caregivers to read 1,000 books to their child before they start kindergarten. This sounds like a lot, but if parents read just one book a night, they can reach 1,000 in a little over 3 years.
  • Our Summer Reading program occurs during June and July. We have different challenges for each age group where readers can earn entries into our raffle drawings. At the end of summer we throw a big party with fun games and free pizza!

Volunteering

The library can always use a hand during many of our events. We accept teen starting and adult volunteers for a variety of positions. This is a great way for teens to earn NJHS and NHS hours. If you are interested in volunteering with us, head over to our volunteer page to access our policy and applications.
