“Play Room” Going Away, Kid’s Room Toys Staying!

Hello library families!

We wanted to give everyone a heads up that our “Play Room” will no longer be open for play starting March 01, 2022.

As some of you may remember, that room was originally a computer lab and in 2018 we won a HUGE grant to convert that space into an early literacy programming room. This project started off wonderfully and then COVID-19 hit, and our space transformed into a playroom instead of a “classroom.” We will be removing toys, the foam climber, and the extra small table over the next few weeks. Once this is done, we will be able to have storytime programs in this space as intended. A large reason for this shift is to re-align ourselves with the original intent of grant funds. This dedicated storytime space also allows the large meeting room to be used by other groups or even other library programs at the same time. Our larger storytimes like Parenting Cottage and Tiny Tots will remain in the large room!

The play area in the children’s room (with the kitchen and dollhouse) will remain! Those toys are not going anywhere and we will be adding some of the toys from the other room into this space. We love having everyone here, and the noise of fun being had in that space does not bother us! Please continue to use that area for book browsing and play. Thank you all for your understanding, and we can’t wait to offer more programs for you all.
